What's the Story?

LIZZO'S WATCH OUT FOR THE BIG GRRRLS is a reality competition featuring singer, rapper, songwriter and flutist Lizzo as she searches for dancers for her 2022 tour. Thirteen women from across the country are in Los Angeles in hope of impressing the music icon enough to become one of her Big Grrrl tour dancers. After a seres of auditions, 10 women are selected to stay in the Big Grrrl mansion. But no one is guaranteed a place on stage, and they will have to prove that they have the moves and self-confidence to get there.

Is It Any Good?

Our review:

The body-positive series is less about competition and more about building up women by teaching them what it means to be comfortable in their own skin. Lizzo, a strong and empowered full-figured music icon, uses the series as a consistent way to highlight her trademark messages about the importance of knowing who you are, being comfortable with your body no matter what the size, and having the self-confidence to show yourself to the world. Many of the challenges she gives the dancers are designed to help them learn these lessons, and the feedback they get is both constructive and positive. Part of the fun is in watching the dancing, which ranges from high-energy performances to more lyrical narratives. Granted, the language gets strong, but most of this is also offered in an empowering context as well. Overall, Lizzo's Watch Out for the Big Grrrls is a show filled with great lessons that would benefit people from all walks of life.
