What's the Story?

LOVE ALLWAYS is an unscripted dating competition that shows that love knows no gender. Lexi Paloma's dating life has grown stale, so she's decided to begin dating both men and women in order to find true love. Dating coaches Spicy Mari and Anthony Recenello introduce Lexi to a group of potential love matches consisting of men and women, each of whom hav been drafted into one of the coach's teams. The gang lives together in a swanky Los Angeles mansion, where they hang out, party, and participate in different challenges. They also get a little dating advice from their team's dating coach. Meanwhile, Lexi gets to know each person better, and after listening to Spicy and Anthony, must eliminate the individuals who she is not connecting with. Throughout it all, dating hopefuls stir up lots of drama in hopes of being her ultimate match.

This low-budget dating show attempts to celebrate pansexuality by featuring adults interacting during what feels like a badly planned spring break getaway. There's no alcohol (thanks to underage cast members), but some of the contestants still manage to appear completely empty-headed, and many of the conversations are filled with silly gossip and predictable conflict. Meanwhile, while the coaches offer some superficial dating and relationship advice, their banter often sounds over-rehearsed. Granted, Love ALLways manages to stay away from stereotypes targeting the LGBTQ+ community, and avoids making a spectacle out of the fact that Lexi is dating men and women. This is a strong message, but one that is couched in a formula that's less original than a first-year college mixer.
