Love in Fairhope
What's the Story?
In LOVE IN FAIRHOPE, a small Alabama town is given its big moment on the screen. Four women find themselves preparing for the Magnolia Ball. They're in different stages of life, looking for love in a town where prospects are scarce. But they're also looking within to see where they've been and where they want to go. Will they find true love in their "complicated" little town? Or will they be better off focusing on their own sovereignty?
Is It Any Good?
Through sherbet sunsets and screen doors, women look for love in a small Alabama town with producer Reese Witherspoon's help. Love in Fairhope benefits from the visual fairy dust a Hollywood production can shower on its subjects. Quaint, lovely, and (sometimes) thoughtful, this is an OK reality show to watch with teens because the iffy stuff is minimal to moderate.
As many a country song attests, alcohol fuels small town dramas. Nevertheless, the women in this show come off as earnestly wanting to move their lives forward. Fans of Southern storytelling will embrace it the most.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about how Love in Fairhope requires that people have the courage to face their challenges. What's the part of your life that requires the most courage?
Alcohol consumption loosens people up in this show so they have fun, yes, but also make mistakes. How does seeing alcohol in the media affect younger viewers?
Finding love is what this show is all about. But what about compassion? Can you love without having compassion for yourself -- and others?
