What's the Story?

LOVE IS BLIND: GERMANY, one of many spin-offs of the Love Is Blind franchise, features hopeful singles looking to find the romantic relationship they've been dreaming about. Hosted by Steffi Brungs and Chris Wackert, it stars 30 single men and women who get to know each other by going on "blind dates" in special "pods" where they can only hear each other's voices because they're separated by an opaque wall. After 10 days, those who feel that they've really connected agree to get engaged sight unseen. Once each couple meets in person, they're sent off on a romantic holiday and continue to get to know each other. They must then live with each other in an apartment for four weeks, during which time they have to decide if they're going to officially tie the knot at the end of the experience.

This predictable Love Is Blind offshoot, which can viewed with subtitles or dubbed in English, offers viewers all the romantic conversations, innuendo, and couples drama the franchise is known for. There are also some cringeworthy moments, some of which are addressed in later episodes. Some scenes do feel staged, which makes the interactions taking place seem less genuine. The positive messages it attempts to send about putting substance over looks gets lost in all of this, but fans of the overall formula will still find Love Is Blind: Germany compelling.
