Marry My Husband (Japan)
Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
Adapted from the Korean web novel by Seong So Jack, MARRY MY HUSBAND (Watashi no Otto to Kelton Shite) is a Japanese series about a woman seeking revenge years before she's betrayed. Misa Kanbe (Fuka Koshiba) is a naive and self-sacrificing woman who has been best friends with Reina Esaka (Sei Shiraishi) since childhood. After discovering that her husband Tomoya Hirano (Yu Yokohama) and Reina were having an affair while she's managing a terminal illness, Misa dies and time travels back to 2015. Assuming that she's there to avenge their betrayal, Misa wants to change the course of events and get Reina and Tomoya to marry each other. But when she unexpectedly meets Wataru Suzuki (Takeru Satoh), a young and serious manager with whom she has no previous or future connection, Misa begins to second guess her plans.
Is It Any Good?
The fun series mixes soap opera-like drama, some humor, and a bit of thrill as Misa Kanbe (Fuka Koshiba) attempts to recreate the past in order to get back at the two people she most trusted throughout her life. As the Marry My Husband narrative moves forward, Misa transforms from a naive and unhappy woman to someone who changes her future by reclaiming her life in 2015. As she becomes stronger and more confident in herself, you can't help but root for her, even though her choices are also setting up others for a miserable future. It's an entertaining story, and if you're looking for a J-drama worth investing in, Marry My Husband is worth checking out.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about the lessons Misa learns about herself when she returns to 2015. Why don't they keep her from changing Reina and Tomoya's fates?
