It's more fanfiction than anything

The characters are a hybrid of their comic and movie selves. Groot is adorable and loving, and Drax is absolutely hilarious, but Quill is whiny and irritating, Gamora is a drama queen, and Rocket is generally mean (not in the tough love, no nonsense way either of his other counterparts have, more of a throws-insults-because-you-set-yourself-up-for-them way). They do "swear," involving made-up swear words in place of real ones.

The writing tends to be pretty bland, unrealistic, and forgettable. The characters don't tend to have many distinct mannerisms or characteristics. The animation isn't great, think Treasure Planet or Tarzan.

People who enjoyed the original movie will probably tolerate this, but I doubt most would turn it on. Those who did not like the original movie are unlikely to enjoy this.
