What's the Story?

In MASTER OF THE HOUSE, a Thai diamond tycoon named Mr. Roongroj (Teerapong Leowrakwong) is readying to celebrate his birthday with an elaborate celebration at his mansion. His squabbling heirs at his side, Mr. Roongroj announces that he will be marrying his servant, a young woman named Kaimook (Narilya Gulmongkolpech). He signs the papers at the dinner table, gives her a ruby necklace, and retires with his new wife to his quarters. A few hours later, he has fallen from the balcony, dead. Can Kaimook figure out who murdered her late husband before the family tears her apart?

Beautiful to look at, but lacking depth, this Thai drama's sexual violence is disturbingly steeped into the cultural brew. In Master of the House the servants in the diamond tycoon's opulent mansion attend gracefully, kneeling at every beck and call, making them prey to those who would take advantage of them. Domination and submission are obvious themes.

Master of the House is a Cinderella story at heart, where one of the servants is chosen by the master to become his wife. Other stories about dynasties might develop the back stories significantly, generating intrigue. This show focuses on the bad habits of the heirs who fight for their father's title. Families can find more enriching shows to watch than this effort.
