What's the Story?
In MELO MOVIE, Ko Gyeom (Choi Woo-sik, Parasite) grows up in an apartment that was home to a video rental shop. He spends hours watching every movie he can get his hands on. Realizing that his obsession was becoming a calling, Gyeom decides to pursue acting. At the same time, a girl named Mubee (Park Bo-young, Daily Dose of Sunshine) is being raised by a father who works in film production, but loses him and closes her heart to love. Later in life, Gyeom and Mubee meet at a production house and eventually become unlikely friends. Circumstances come between them, however, and they fall out of touch. What will become of their relationship?
Is It Any Good?
Excellent acting brightens this charming Korean romantic comedy. Casting a little wink at the inner-workings of the film industry, Melo Movie moves at a movie-lover's pace, allowing viewers to settle in for a leisurely binge. Expect some emotional turns, but this show won't knock you sideways with effects. It's got some kissing, and a little smoking and drinking, but younger teens who enjoy a fun romance can watch this show with adults.
