Parents' Guide to Murai in Love

Parents need to know that Murai in Love is a romantic comedy about the budding relationship between a high school student and his homeroom teacher. Murai (voiced by Brandon Jay) actively flirts with Ms. Ayano Tanaka (voiced by Morgan Lauré) from the beginning. Ayano initially rejects Murai, but over time her feelings change. Ayano doesn't keep healthy boundaries with her students. Murai looks like Ayano's favorite video game character, so she often fantasizes about Murai as that character. She also overshares about her personal life with other students, hangs out with them outside of school, and is drunk in front of them. Teenage characters have crushes on each other and generally act like typical teens. There's a lot of slapstick comedy that's imagined or symbolic. Daydreams, video game cutscenes, and dramatic reenactments have fantasy violence or bruised and bloodied characters. Characters make some crude jokes about sex (e.g., "love is a raw sexual battleground") and suicide (e.g., "kill me," "let me die"). Cursing includes "damn," "hell," "ass," "crap," and "hot damn." There are some broad positive themes about treating people with respect and taking people's feelings seriously.
