Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
MYSTERY LEAGUE follows a group of best friends who share a love of mystery novels. Inspired by their favorite detectives, Marta, Millie, and Mike use their special glasses, magnifiers, and other cool tools to solve mysteries at school and in their community.
Is It Any Good?
It's a classic detective series in every way—except the protagonists are kids, and the scenarios are simple everyday events. Mystery League is very similar to the Australian Netflix hit The InBESTigators, with more diversity and without the mockumentary style. Instead, the cases are told linearly, in a way that prioritizes younger viewers.
The relatability of setting and characters can inspire a desire for learning and a sense of imagination; that everyday problems can be viewed as mysteries, making life more interesting to solve. Bonus points for the strong sense of community and appreciation of different cultures. This show is a good choice for family co-viewing.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about how stories and characters can inspire us. In Mystery League, Millie, Marta and Mike find inspiration in mystery book characters. Do you have a favorite character you look up to? Why?
Do you notice a pattern in how the detectives solve mysteries? If you were going to try doing so yourself, what is the first thing you'd do?
Millie wants to be a city mayor and help improve her community. Do you know what a mayor does? What are some of the things you can do to help your community?
