What's the Story?

NYAIGHT OF THE LIVING CAT follows a group of people who work at a cat cafe in Japan, mainly Kunagi (voiced in English by Jason Douglas), a man who has lost his memory and all he knows is he absolutely loves cats, and Kaoru (voiced by Maria Delilah) the manager who trains Kunagi. When the "nyandemic" happens, infected cats begin to take over the world by turning humans into cats through "cute contact" that includes cuddling or petting. Kunagi and Kaoru find themselves running from all cats with a group of friends or customers from the cafe to not be turned into cats themselves. Will they survive as humans?

This show has a tone of absurd, feline-focused chaos. Nyaight of the Living Cat takes a well-known zombie apocalypse trope and makes it its own. Expect some anxious moments that may leave viewers worried if or when favorite characters will fall victim to the infected. Characters are endearing and silly, even ones like Tanishi who are implied to be "creeps." Even with the mild horror themes, the show is a fun, silly watch, with many puns and references to older pop culture that younger viewers might not recognize.
