What's the Story?

In PARIS & PUPS, Paris Star is a 12-year-old girl living in the penthouse of the Fabuluxe Hotel with her five dogs Diamond, Baby, Slivington, Mugsy, and Bijou. The series shows Star and the dogs in their everyday "glamazing" lives. Star loves DJing, fashion, and playing with her puppies. In one episode, each dog tries a different method of getting Star out of her creative slump. In another, Star helps Diamond, who's bummed that a boring post-surgery cone is cramping her fashionista style. When the problem of the day is resolved, Star rewards each helpful pup with a puppy charm for their collar.

This show has adorable dogs and a glittery pink world that will be irresistible to some kids. While grown-ups might be wary of Paris & Pups' origins (created and produced by Paris Hilton), the show itself is actually quite wholesome and has positive social-emotional lessons. Grown-ups also may prefer something that is less stereotypically "girly girl," and featuring a character in a less materialistic lifestyle. And some grown-ups may roll their eyes at the Paris-isms (invented words like "starkle" aka star + sparkle and Star's hot pink jumpsuit). These grown-up complaints will go over the heads of many kids who love dogs and adorable things. For kids who like pink, sparkles, or puppies, grown-ups might want to steer them towards show like Fancy Nancy, Pinkalicious, or Puppy Dog Pals instead.
