Its a supernatural crime drama with 1920's holywood and fedoras
Penny dreadful is very good, however it is violent and that might be triggering to some viewers. Also the language is pretty adult but the story line is captivating and the acting is spectacular, along with the mesmerizing visual effects. It also has social commentary about racial injustice and political corruption.
