Phantom Pups
What's the Story?
In PHANTOM PUPS, three sweet puppies named Lewey, Chewy, and Booey sneak into a seance and become ghosts after an evil dog spirit steals their lives. Thirty years later, the puppies are still haunting the same house when a new family moves in and they see their opportunity to finally get their lives back.
Is It Any Good?
A kids show with a familiar blend of CGI and live-action elements from the makers of Air Bud that never takes off. The CGI in Phantom Pups is no better than what Sabrina the Teenage Witch had in its heyday 30 years ago (in the case of making the puppies talk, it may actually be worse). The overall story and writing also fail to rise above mediocrity, although the child actors manage to bring a level of authenticity to their roles. Also surprising: The show occasionally ventures into darker territory, a direction that doesn't serve its intended younger audience. All in all, there's much better TV out there for young viewers.
