Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal
Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
The SAILOR MOON story continues in Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal, with Chibiusa (Sandy Fox) about to return to the 30th century. However, on the day of a total solar eclipse, Usagi (Stephanie Sheh) and Chibiusa are affected by a strange vision and can't use their magic. The pegasus Helios (Brian Beacock) appears to ask for help, and Mamoru (Robbie Daymond) suddenly falls ill. The sailor scouts discover that the Dead Moon Circus has arrived to create darkness over earth, preying upon people's nightmares. Earth is in trouble, and it's up to Sailor Moon and her loyal crew to come together, face their fears, and stop the circus' evil plan before they lose everything -- and everyone -- they care about.
Is It Any Good?
Classic '90s anime gets a beautiful transformation in this modern adaptation full of sweet, strong female characters who have inspired many for generations. Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal is definitely targeted towards younger viewers with it's straightforward themes and fast-paced storytelling. However, the series appeals to all audiences with its ensemble cast of likable characters. The sailor scouts struggles with insecurities and the truth of their deepest desires make them well-rounded and relatable. Even the villains get some complexity with "twist reveal" backstories. The fighting can be a bit cheesy, with exaggerated catch phrases and drawn-out transformation sequences, but it's heart-warming to see conflict resolved through the power of love.

Families can also talk about body image in media. When the characters discuss beauty, what does that mean? How do the character designs affect the way beauty is defined in the show? How does this relate to our experience with beauty and body image?
