Madoka Magica is amazing, with artwork that (for the most part) is breathtaking, creepy when needed, cute when not. Sorry if there are any spoilers, I'll try not to write any, but I may slip, so be careful.
Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, or Puella Magi Madoka Magica, starts off introducing the main character, Madoka Kaname, her two friends, Hitomi Shizuki and Sayaka Miki, a new girl named Homura Akemi, and the role model, and magical girl, Mami Tomoe. The series starts of very lighthearted, your typical magical girl genre. If you start to get bored, please, at least watch until episode 3. That is when Madoka and Sayaka are forced to face the reality of what it means to be a magical girl.
The series only gets darker with the appearance of Kyoko Sakura, a girl who seems to only care about herself. She, for some reason, is always licking a fight. And that's as far as I will go, because if I go any farther, there are gonna be spoilers.
Most people watch the first episode, and assume that it's your typical magical girl anime. I wouldn't have watched it if my friend hadn't forced me. When I recommended this to my friends, they got bored during episode 1. But after episode 3, they were in love with this anime.
Overall, this anime is amazing, and deserves all of the praise it gets. It's definitely one of the best magical girl style amines, and my personal favorite anime of all time.
