A Lot or a Little?
The parents' guide to what's in this TV show.
What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Saturday Morning All Star Hits! is a parody of '80s and '90s Saturday-morning cartoons and TV programming. Created by Saturday Night Live's Kyle Mooney, the series stars Mooney as multiple characters (including twins Skip and Treybor, who host) and jumps from cartoons to movie previews to news programs. It's similar to a sketch comedy show, but one where all the various sketches are connected. The satire is pitch perfect, down to Skip and Treybor's corny jokes about wanting more TV in school, but the content veers toward mature topics like alcohol abuse, depression, and corporate America. Gore, violence, and some sexual content are all shown in the style of Saturday-morning cartoons.

What's the Story?
Skip and Treybor, the twin hosts of Saturday Morning All Star Hits!, love hanging out and causing mischief as they introduce beloved cartoons and preview upcoming movies. Randy the dinosaur, the Create-a-Crittles, the Strongimals and more all show up for Saturday-morning hijinks. But things start to take a turn as Randy gets depressed, the Create-a-Crittles destroy their friend David's marraige, and the Strongimals create a rift in Skip and Treybor's brotherhood.
Is It Any Good?
Kyle Mooney's '80s/'90s parody sometimes feels similar in tone to other comedy shows like Wonder Showzen or I Think You Should Leave, but there's nothing else quite like it. In addition to the pitch-perfect satire, Saturday Morning All Star Hits! is ambitious in its storytelling, tying together the cartoons and live action in consistently surprising ways. And Mooney's character work stands out from other SNL cast members in that he's actually acting, as opposed to commenting on the characters he plays. There are so many moving parts that it's a minor miracle that Mooney is able to bring it all together, and the result is one of the most unique comedies to come along in a while.
