Visually Great and a Cool Idea but...

See was a must watch for my wife and I. The trailer definitely got us intrigued to watch it. I came to Common Sense Media to get an idea of what to expect in terms of language, sex content, violence, etc. Unfortunately, See was not a show we felt comfortable watching with the different categories mentioned before. It was a bummer since it could not be filtered with services like Vidangel or Clearplay. Nevertheless, we decided to begin watching and see how far we could go before saying "enough" and turning it off. We managed to watch the entire series while being prepared to fast forward any nonsense that could come up. I've decided to list some of the inappropriate content that is not necessary to have in the show in case it becomes helpful for parents or viewers who want to avoid it. When it comes to sexual content you really only see it in the first two episodes with Queen Kane and a sexual reference later made in the show. In episode one when we meet Queen Kane she asks to be left alone to pray or in other words to touch/please herself. You can skip the scene (lasts about 1 min and 20 seconds) once she sits down on a chair and lifts her dress. In episode two another "prayer" moment occurs. Queen Kane, again, summons a lady servant by ringing a bell in order to "pray." Once the lady servant stands before the Queen you can go ahead and skip the scene (lasts about 1 min and 30 seconds). In episode 7 a man makes reference to these "prayers" of Queen Kane and nothing more on sexual content for the show. Language is sparingly evident. However, when it does occur in its brief moments it is strong language like F-word, B-word, S-word. Because it happens a little more often throughout the show I am unable to finger point to all the moments. Keep in mind that it is mainly Queen Kane that swears up a storm. Towards the end of the show it is Baba Voss and others. Violence is probably the most evident thing in the show. Violence is pretty strong at times but not always. Most times it is what you would see in a Jason Bourne movie. Definitely use your best judgment to decide if you want to see this or not. My wife and I are looking forward to season 2 and hopefully posting more about the content it contains to help all families and viewers. Cheers! Season 2 The adventure continues with Season 2. However, violence has increased in intensity, there is more use of profanity, and sexual content was very uneasy (Incestuous sexual relationship between an aunt and her nephew). The story is interesting but at this point my wife and I would not continue watching this series if violence, profanity, and sexual content do not reduce. Hoping that filtering companies like Vidangel or Clearplay are able to offer their services so that we can remove the unnecessary content. For those who may be wondering here are some details of what to expect. Violence continues to be the most evident content in this show. The intensity of the violence increased and I would compare it to what you see in a John Wick movie. More gore and bloody deaths. Profanity also increased. Be prepared to hear more F-bombs along with other swear words. Sexual content changed but for the worse. Queen Kane meets Kofun (her nephew) for her own benefit. In one scene she sits next to him in his room. She eventually touches his thigh which turns into a hand job or how she calls "the hand of god" SMH. In another scene she and her nephew consume a hallucinogen which leads to them making out and eventually sleeping together. Baba Voss and his wife have a scene where they sleep together, no explicit nudity. There is a scene where two women, Haniwa and Wren, isolate themselves and sleep together. Kissing is shown but no explicit nudity. Hope this helps.

Good story ruined by sexuality

Do NOT watch this with your teens if you value morality at all. The cursing and violence they may have become accustomed to; however, a woman pleasing herself while "praying" is completely inappropriate for any age child. This is only the first episode, and I'm not watching any more to find out what else is on there.

Rape? Who wants to see something so vile??

This episode shows the daughter of Baba Voss chained up and about to be raped. I find this repulsive and absolutely unnecessary to put into a show. I understand they want to get the audiences emotions going, but using rape to do that, is just not acceptable… such a vile and disgusting thing should not show up in anything. The porn industry doesn’t even allow it… I know how that sounds… But if the porn industry doesn’t allow it, why can I, and all of our kids access it on Apple TV+? It just wasn’t necessary to show that. The storyline could have continued without that…

Really creative

This show hooks you to it quickly, it is really well written, the story is compelling, the musical score is exciting, just a good show in general

Not for kids

I was really looking forward to the show but the sexual content ruined it.

If this is appropriate for children everything is

There went allot, allot of creativity into this show, however I do not think parents come to commonsense media to rate a show as you would in Rotten Tomatoes or any other similar website. This show starts of well, but has allot of swearing and a scene that had me as an adult stop watching the show due to sexual content. I don't think it is appropriate for kids, and if this is appropriate well then why bother! BTW I am a fan of Jason Momoa since his SG days

See is a really good show but if your considering watching this with your child I think they should be at least 14. The nudity and the swearing isn’t really and issue. But the violence is quite brutal and that’s why I say 14. However do watch this show it truly is quite good not the greatest thing I have ever seen but It’s very good.

See a Great Show 13+

While See features some language. Your children have definitely heard it before. There are some sexual acts but its nothing major. The violence isn’t much of an issue at all. See surprisingly teaches some good messages and a couple of characters are decent role models. However a lot of them make very questionable choices. The show itself is really good and I defiantly recommend watching it with your family 13 and up :)
