What's the Story?

SIDE QUEST is a mini-series spin-off featuring four stand-alone episodes that connect to the (fictional) Mythic Quest online role-playing game. From watching comic book collectors determine who gets a special edition of a Mythic Quest comic book, to playing a special anniversary MQ game that forces the players to make a tough decision, each 30-minute episode stays connected to, but also detours from, the original series and offers a unique and entertaining story.

Is It Any Good?

Our review:
Parents say : Not yet rated
Kids say : Not yet rated

The lighthearted series offers four fun (and sometimes quirky) short narratives that fall outside of the Mythic Quest story world, but remain within its universe. Each Side Quest episode is completely different, and viewers who haven't seen the parent series may find it hard to pick up on the more nuanced connections to it in each one. But each of the installments are also well-produced and full of quick banter and amusing popular culture references. Side Quest also touches on some solid themes, but the episodes are so short that there's no time to delve into them. As a result, whether or not you're familiar with the franchise you'll probably find it entertaining, but Mythic Quest fans will be left wanting more.

  • Families can talk about the fictional universe in this show. What makes it seem real throughout the franchise?

  • Side Quest tells stories about the role a fictional video game plays in different people's lives. If you had the chance to produce an episode, what MQ-themed story would you tell?
