Special Ops True
Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
SPECIAL OPS TRUE is a docuseries where members of special forces and trained operatives discuss real-life high-profile missions throughout history. Hostage rescues, covert missions, and counterterrorism are revisited as these agents reveal unseen footage and discuss how it's really like operating in the shadows.
Is It Any Good?
This series pairs top secret missions and high stakes with candid discussions and unseen footage. Special Ops True is as intriguing as it is distressing. The hosts and guests are members of special forces, many who have served together, so there's candor and casualness that pulls viewers in (almost like listening to a podcast.) Despite how friendly the guests/hosts are to each other, the details of violence, swearing, and discussions of sexual and drug crimes make this not for kids.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about how Special Ops True portrays members of special forces, and how it compares to fictional representations in movies and television. How do the portrayals contrast? How do these different depictions affect public opinion on special operatives and the challenges they face?
How are courage and teamwork incorporated into the work of these operatives? Why are they important character strengths?
