STEVE! (Martin): A Documentary in 2 Pieces
Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
STEVE! (MARTIN) began as a magician who worked at Disneyland and studied a vaudeville-style comedian who worked there. This documentary traces Martin's career from his roots as a performer to his rise as a popular stand-up comic in the 1970s, from his movie career to his present-day life as a family man in his 70s.
Is It Any Good?
Even 50 years later, it's easy to spot this superstar's influence throughout comedy. STEVE! (Martin) paints a portrait of an iconoclastic performer who struggled for years until his unique style of comedy caught on with popular audiences. His story is told through a collage of performance clips and interviews before jumping ahead to the present day, where Steve is in his 70s with a hit TV show, a young child, and a happy life that looks completely different than it did 50 years ago. STEVE! (Martin) is a delightful retrospective for fans, and may be mind-blowing for viewers who only know him from Only Murders in the Building.
