What's the Story?
In TAKE 1, Korean music idols like opera singer Sumi Jo, K-pop sibling duo AKMU, and ballad singer Yim Jae-beum are asked the question: What if you had only one chance to present a perfect performance before you died? The show chronicles each performer's journey to choose a song that means something to them and to prepare the monumental performance. Along the way, viewers get to learn about the artists, their careers, and their impacts on South Korean culture and the performing arts. Time is of the essence, and obstacles build suspense. Will the performers pull off their once-in-a-lifetime acts?
Is It Any Good?
This unique spin on the typical musical performance show is moving and informative. Take 1 is a tribute to so many of the performing arts that come out of South Korea, and fans of music – especially Korean music – will enjoy it. The visually stunning performances will engage viewers of all ages, and there is so much to learn about the careers of the artists. This cool docuseries is sure to create more K-pop fans.
