This dry, podcast-like series offers viewers a chance to watch Alec Baldwin and his guests share anecdotes and intelligently banter about topics relevant to their careers. The simplicity of the set, which includes two chairs and some hidden side tables, allows for easygoing exchanges. Despite the lack of a studio audience, off-stage reactions from the show's crew are sometimes audible, giving it an occasional punch.

As with most talk shows, The Alec Baldwin Show centers around its host. But thanks to Baldwin's controversial past, this creates some awkward moments. He isn't always likable, and his interviewing style doesn't always allow for interesting insights to be fully revealed during conversations. The show's lack of flashiness also diminishes its entertainment quality. As a result, outside of his existing fan base, it's unclear who the intended audience of the show is.
