What's the Story?
THE ALEC BALDWIN SHOW is a talk show starring Alec Baldwin having in-depth, one-on-one conversations with celebrity guests. From conversations with Jerry Seinfeld about allegations of sexism in the entertainment industry to talking about the art of developing sketch characters with Kate McKinnon, Baldwin chats with visitors about a range of topics pertaining to their professional and personal lives. Throughout it all, excerpts from TV shows, films, and other moments are featured.
Is It Any Good?
This dry, podcast-like series offers viewers a chance to watch Alec Baldwin and his guests share anecdotes and intelligently banter about topics relevant to their careers. The simplicity of the set, which includes two chairs and some hidden side tables, allows for easygoing exchanges. Despite the lack of a studio audience, off-stage reactions from the show's crew are sometimes audible, giving it an occasional punch.
As with most talk shows, The Alec Baldwin Show centers around its host. But thanks to Baldwin's controversial past, this creates some awkward moments. He isn't always likable, and his interviewing style doesn't always allow for interesting insights to be fully revealed during conversations. The show's lack of flashiness also diminishes its entertainment quality. As a result, outside of his existing fan base, it's unclear who the intended audience of the show is.
