Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
THE CEO CLUB is an unscripted series about seven groundbreaking women who are building and growing their companies while balancing their personal lives. Within the patriarchal world of business and entrepreneurship, women are expected to follow rules they didn't create. Now a group of talented women, including retired tennis star and venture capitalist Serena Williams, e-commerce CEO Loren Ridinger, supermodel and skincare company founder Winnie Harlow, health and wellness influencer Hannah Bronfman, accessories and fashion designer Dee Hilfiger, Brazilian jewelry and fashion designer Isabela Grutman, and Mexican performing artist Thalía are changing them. All these CEOs are working hard at building their brands, developing new business strategies, and looking for new companies to invest in. Meanwhile, they also unapologetically dedicate time to their families and friends. Balancing everything isn't easy, especially when things go wrong or the unexpected happens. But these women don't see failure as an option, and look for support from each other to keep them going.
Is It Any Good?
The highly polished unscripted series, which is executive produced by Serena Williams, offers a glossy, magazine-like look at how a group of ambitious women are navigating the competitive world of business entrepreneurship while still prioritizing their family and friends. As these CEOs go to meetings, sit for advertising shoots, interact with high profile-folks like Simone Biles, Tommy Hilfiger, and Jamie Foxx, and socialize with each other, conversations are purposely and strategically had about their hard work, their successes, and of course, their specific businesses and product lines.
Cameras also capture moments when things don't work out the way they'd hoped, and how they choose to address these situations. Granted, as you watch these women navigate the business world, you can't help but be reminded of how their earlier successes in athletics, fashion, and marketing gives them solid foundations from which to launch their new ventures. A few are also well-connected or enjoy celebrity status, which is undeniably helpful. Nevertheless, these women have worked, and continue to work, very hard to get to where they are today. Ultimately, The CEO Club offers positive and empowering messages about women succeeding in the business world, and that they don't have to tear each other down in order to make it to the top.
