What's the Story?
In THE DOC MCSTUFFINS CHRISTMAS SPECIAL, Doc (voiced by Laya DeLeon Hayes) and her brother, Donny (Jaden Betts), race downstairs on Christmas morning to see what Santa (Justin T. Bowler) brought for them only to find there are no presents under the tree. Doc and her toy friends use her stethoscope magic to go back in time and up to the North Pole to unravel the mystery. There they meet an old friend, Tobias the Elf (Tony Hale), who tells them that a power outage made it impossible to finish all the toys in time for Christmas delivery and that Santa is missing! Doc, Chilly (Jess Harnell), Stuffy (Robbie Rist), Lambie (Lara Jill Miller), and Hallie (Loretta Devine) enlist the help of their McStuffinsville friends to finish the elves' toy making, and Doc agrees to step in for Santa, but without his help, she fears the holiday won't be merry for a special girl named Agnes (Rylee Alazraqui) who really needs some holiday magic.
Is It Any Good?
This holiday special strays from the normal progression of Doc McStuffins episodes in which the young doctor diagnoses and helps heal a toy friend, emphasizing instead Doc's qualities of compassion and selflessness. She doesn't hesitate when she knows the world's kids are in danger of missing out on Christmas; she and her friends leap into action and find a way to solve the problem. Especially sweet is her determination to help and inspire hope in young Agnes.
The Doc McStuffins Christmas Special has original songs, seasonal scenery and magic, and a reunion with many of the toy friends Doc has made over the years. It's a sweet, gentle story that celebrates the joy of giving of yourself and helping others, especially during the holidays.
