What's the Story?

Adapted from a TikTok series of the same name, THE KOUNCIL is a romantic comedy about a woman in her mid-20s who seeks dating support from the physical manifestations of her psyche. Katie (Katie Florence) finds herself single after her ex-boyfriend cheated on her. Now she's moving into a house in Venice, California, that she inherited from her aunt and is trying to move on. Her best friend, Alana (Erika Priscilla), does her best to support her, but Katie's inner voices are also there to guide her. The Kouncil members, which include Logic, Confidence, Heart, and Anxiety, offer their two cents about every step she's about to take. Also joining them is Lady Parts, the inner mouthpiece for her sexual libido. They aren't always in agreement, but Kouncil members are always with Katie as she tries to get over her ex, enters the dating world, and tries to figure out what she wants out of life.

Is It Any Good?

Our review:

The lighthearted and creative TV series from content creator Katie Florence offers lots of edgy humor about love and romance. Each of the six episodes, which are roughly 10 minutes long, show some key moments in Katie's post-breakup journey. It's fun, but quick and superficial, thanks to the narrative style being similar to that of TikTok videos. But The Kouncil features some good banter, which makes binging all of them at once worth the while. Florence fans will want to watch it, while those unfamiliar with her work might appreciate the solid, woman-centered irreverent humor.
