i just got done watching it and i thought that it was amazing great story line and i think is perfect for 13 and up

I like this storyline, however , I feel that the show doesn’t need all the sexual references, or sex itself. The language is pretty consistent. The main characters are all villains, so there are hearts (very literally) ripped out of peoples chests and shown on screen. The show revolves around vampires, Ware wolves, and witches, so do know the supernatural prey on the humans in the show, and it does get extraordinarily graphic. People are burned alive, bullet wounds are shown. ( one scene in season 1 is of someone shot in the head, with great detail. ) Drinking is consistent and is used quite a lot. Characters as mentioned earlier, are villains, and so not only is this show very gruesome and graphic, but the messages are horrible. Most characters are cruel, manipulative, and violent. The characters will stop at nothing to get what they want, even if everyone dies. I know that sounds horrible, but this was overall a wonderful show and it shows us the other side of life, and it shows the importance of family and caring for people you love. The piece that I love is that you see how the villains became villains, and what they do from there. I was 12 when I watched this, however I was disgusted by the sex. I am extremely mature when it comes to the violence, and gore, but I still think that it’s best left for older teens. Pieces of the violence were very horrific and gruesome, even for me.

There is a lot of violence but it is very rarely gorey and a lot of it is supernatural violence mostly conflicted on bad guys. The main characters are all villians so there aren't very many good role models. The show is a good quality show can be a bit boring sometimes and there are holes in the plot. I do like the show though.

(I would rate this 4.5/5 stars not 4/5) As an 11 year old myself I rate this a 12+. Ive always been very mature when It comes to tv shows/films. I was watching 12 rated things as a 9 year old (With Approval of my parents) and now I am 11 my mum decided to let me watch a few 15's, My first was.... The Vampire Diaries. I watched it and fell in love with the characters and the storylines, I fully recommend it. I realised that it had two spin offs, 'The originals' and 'Legacies' After finishing tvd I decided to watch 'The Originals. After a few episodes I was hooked. I do not think Tvd or Originals should be a 15 but they have their reasons, Gore, sex references etc. As a Mature 11 year old I was slightly shocked by some scenes like one hayley and elijah scene in season 2 and forced myself to skip. To be honest I think that there are more sex references than Gore/Violence scenes which was not what It seems to be. If you are an adult reading this dont let this put you off letting your child watch this, It keeps them hooked for a while, Isnt actually too inappropriate and you can watch it for free, with ads on 'All 4' If you live in britain. If you dont want ads, Each season is around £15 on amazon. Personally I love this show and totally recommend.

I think this show is perfect for teens and young adults. I think if a parent is questioning watching it they should watch it with the kid so they can pause if the show seems “to violent”. I don’t think its violent but some parents are weird.

Personally, throughout the entire show. (What I’ve seen so far) there’s only been 2 “sexual” scenes. And nothing revealing, yes there is gore. Heart ripping, neck biting, people slit their own wrists open. The language isnt even that bad. Literally the most frequent “curse” is Damn. 11+ should handle this show, though I recommend watching ‘The Vampire Diaries’ before watching ‘The Originals’ because in some episodes they mention things that happened in ‘The Vampire Diaries’ and if you don’t watch that series first, none of it will make sense. Neither will ‘Legacies’ if you don’t watch ‘The Originals’ or ‘The Vampire Diaries’ first. Great actors/actresses. Great show. But beware that there are some emotional scenes and violent scenes.
