The Ramparts of Ice
What's the Story?
THE RAMPARTS OF ICE follows Koyuki Hikawa (voiced by Erika Harlacher), a high school student with a cold demeanor. Constant teasing and a rocky past left Koyuki distant from her classmates. Only her childhood friend Miki (voiced by Brianna Knickerbocker) knows her real personality. But an encounter with schoolmates Minato (voiced by Kyle McCarley) and Yota (voiced by Jason Griffith) starts to broaden her horizons and show her there are people worth opening up to.
Is It Any Good?
This emotionally aware high school drama understands the pressures of growing up and trusting others. The Ramparts of Ice gets it right when it comes to relatable teen characters. The inner monologues and imagined scenes deftly show how hard it is to understand yourself and feel safe while looking for a place to fit in. The show strikes a nice balance between sincerity, comedy, and drama—and leaves plenty of room for audiences to reflect on themselves through the lives of the characters.
