What's the Story?

In THE TRUNK, a gunshot fires, and a steamer trunk is thrown into the depths of murky water. Several months earlier, a man lies dying in a hospital, and the woman (Seo Hyeon-jin) who sits by his bed passes the next of kin's information to the doctor and takes refuge in the restroom. There, she removes her wedding ring, then returns to the corporate offices that hired her to be wife to the dead man. She takes on the next client, is warned that he's not a match made in heaven, but decides to become wife to a troubled, complicated man (Gong Yoo, Train to Busan). Whose murder precipitated the trunk's jettison into the depths? And what secrets are being kept in the trunk?

Is It Any Good?

Our review:

Taut acting, a fine script, and a compelling plot will thrill fans of Korean mysteries. Because of its luxurious vibe, younger teens might want to watch this moody Korean thriller, but The Trunk is best suited for more mature audiences.

A good binge for older teens and adults, this show is packaged beautifully, hitting the right notes of tragic luxury, drugs, and sexual tension among people who hire wives and husbands to fill their inner void.
