What's the Story?

A virus, code-named THE TYRANT, is part of a top-secret program in South Korea led by Director Choe (Kim Seon-ho). After U.S. forces discover the project, they demand Choe shut it down and give up the samples. But the process gets intercepted, and the bioweapon is stolen. Jagyeong (Jo Yoon-su), a code cracker about to retire from the life of crime with her father, is instructed to retrieve the stolen experiment. Soon, forces clash between those who want to eliminate the Tyrant program, those who want to keep it going, and those who want the virus for themselves.

This series is gritty, gripping, and gory. The Tyrant is a violent, intriguing, and intricate entry to the spy genre. Seon-ho and Yoon-su's performances give their characters emotional dimension underneath all the bloodshed. The violence and language make this suitable for older teens.
