The Worst Trip Around the World

What's the Story?
THE WORST TRIP AROUND THE WORLD (La peor vuelta al mundo) is a Mexican unscripted series about an influencer taking a budget trip around the globe. As Mexican actor and social media influencer Juanpa Zurita approaches his 30th birthday, he has an existential crisis and realizes that he hasn't accomplished all the things he's wanted to do. He decides to plan a budget-friendly trip around the world in a small plane flown by South Dakota pilot Matt Guthmiller, who was 19 when he became the youngest person to fly around the world. After convincing the Walt Disney Company to fund the trip, he, Guthmiller, and a cameraperson depart from Las Vegas, Nevada in the cramped, bathroom-less plane and fly to destinations in Cuba, Costa Rica, Iceland, Romania, Morocco, Japan, and Vietnam, with quick pitstops for refueling along the way. During his travels Juanpa also meets up with friends like influencer Le Le Pons, Mexican actor Harold Azuara, and comedian Dani Sosa, and tries to push them to go beyond their comfort zones. It's fun and a little chaotic, and sometimes plans don't always go smoothly. But Juanpa knows that this is a trip of a lifetime.
Is It Any Good?
The funny series, which features cast members speaking in both Spanish and English, follows Juanpa Zurita on a lively journey across four continents. While Zurita is energetic and witty (some of which is lost in the English subtitles), Guthmiller is the older man who's piloting the plane with a friendly seriousness that makes you wonder if the two have anything to talk about off camera. Still, the Mexican influencer and his friends embark on some interesting—and sometimes colorful—adventures that make up for this awkwardness. There's lots of laughable moments, but only a limited amount of historical and cultural information is shared about the countries visited, which makes The Worst Trip Around the World more of a comedy than a travel show. Nonetheless, it's a highly entertaining watch, and chances are that viewers will think that this "worst trip" is really the best.
