A Lot or a Little?
The parents' guide to what's in this TV show.
What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Transformers: EarthSpark is an animated series about a family and their relationship with a new kind of Transformer. There's some sci-fi violence, including bots with guns and other high-tech weapons, fast-paced battles, and explosions. Some of the villainous bots are scary and threatening. Despite the violence, positive messages abound, especially those about family and perseverance.

What's the Story?
Tween Robby Malto misses Philly and doesn't like living in the podunk, no-wifi town of Witwicky, where his mom Dot has a new job as a park ranger. His sister Mo tries to cheer him up, but to no avail. But when two new Transformers, Twitch and Thrash, are created after Robby and Mo fall into a mysterious cave, Witwicky starts to look a lot cooler. When classic Autobots including Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, as well as reformed Decepticon Megatron, come to town to fight a new evil force, the adventures really begin.
Is It Any Good?
This lively series is a must for young action fans. Transformers: EarthSpark blends bot battles and family struggles with ease, giving the show more depth than expected. The kids also have a psychic connection to their new bot friends, allowing them to share feelings, which are often discussed in a healthy way. The show's diverse cast is impressive, and strong voice acting elevates what could have been just another toy advertisement. Plus, there are some funny nods for OG fans, like when Optimus Prime somberly states that there's more to a mystery "than meets the eye." Transformers fans will appreciate the storyline and bot jargon, while parents will find the many positive messages a pleasant surprise.
