Transformers EarthSpark: Hometown Heroes
Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
In TRANSFORMERS EARTHSPARK: HOMETOWN HEROES, the Maltos and the Terrains are feeling good after defeating their latest foes. But things take a turn when Robby (Sydney Mikayla) is accused of misusing his powers, and teens start blaming the heroes for their family's problems. In their quest for vengeance, they inadvertently release a powerful enemy who takes his chance to seize power once more. Now, the Terrains and the Maltos must overcome their insecurities and come together again to prove they are the true heroes of Witwicky.
Is It Any Good?
As the first part of a special, this show stands out from typical action shows by focusing on character development and motivations, creating a surprisingly emotional setup for the usual Transformers robot battles. Transformers EarthSpark: Hometown Heroes explores the often overlooked consequences of being a superhero and how one's win can also be someone else's loss.
While the special tries to be accessible to all viewers, much of the emotional depth comes from backstory, making it a more rewarding watch to those familiar with the ongoing narrative.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about the impact of fake news and misinformation as shown in Transformers EarthSpark Hometown Heroes. Robby faces consequences after a video of him acting out is posted online, but crucial parts are left out, misrepresenting his reaction and negative actions. Is that fair?
What are ways we can protect ourselves and others from misinformation online?
Do you think their portrayal of bullying was realistic? How about Robby's reaction to it?
Transformers is a big franchise that started with a line of toys. What do you think is the role of Transformers EarthSpark in that universe? Does it expand the brand, or reinforce it?
