The parents' guide to what's in this TV show.
What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Tribes of Europa is an action fantasy series about three siblings caught in the middle of a conflict between warring factions. The show is German but overdubbed in English. It takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where Europe has divided into a continent full of small tribes, each with its own singular way of life. Three of the youngest members of one tribe find themselves in possession of a mysterious piece of technology, one that other tribes will kill for. Violence, including large choreographed fight scenes, occurs throughout the series, and the main characters' lives are often in danger. Many times, the viewer is put into a character's point-of-view in the center of the conflict, making it feel more immersive and potentially more difficult to experience for some viewers. There is minimal sexual content, other than some jokes made about genitalia, and language in the English dubbed version doesn't get much worse than "scumbag" and "weiner."

Violent, graphic. Be aware of this before watching.

What's the Story?
TRIBES OF EUROPA takes place in the year 2074, 45 years after a mysterious blackout changed the course of Europe's history. The world is fractured into small tribes of people, each with their own distinct way of life. When a mysterious traveler crashes near the home of the Origines, it sets off a chain of events that finds siblings Lliv, Elja, and Kiano thrust into the outside world, fighting to survive.
Is It Any Good?
Many sci-fi series get bogged down in world building and backstory. Tribes of Europa is not one of those. Though there's clearly deeper mythology at work, the series jumps straight into the action with a simple, understandable premise and relatable characters. Everything is shot in an immersive style with lots of camera movement (think Children of Men or some later episodes of Game of Thrones), which lets viewers discover the broader world just as the protagonists do. Even if Tribes of Europa's sci-fi and fantasy elements don't necessarily always feel unique or surprising, keeping the wind at its characters' backs makes for a breezy, fun watch.
