Trust Me: The False Prophet
Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
TRUST ME: THE FALSE PROPHET follows cult expert Christine Katas, and her videographer husband Tolga Katas, as they infiltrate a secretive fundamentalist Latter Day Saints community along the Utah–Arizona border. As a new self-proclaimed prophet rises to power after the imprisonment of Warren Jeffs, the couple works to gather evidence, assist victims, and push authorities to intervene and their documentary project evolves into a real-time effort to rescue vulnerable members.
Is It Any Good?
This is a gripping, urgent docuseries that balances shocking revelations with deep authenticity. Christine's perspective as a survivor-advocate and Tolga's real-time filmmaking give Trust Me: The False Prophet a high-stakes narrative as a new leader emerges within Warren Jeffs' Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints community. The series is particularly compelling for its rare footage of individuals experiencing a complete evolution of their belief systems. While the subject matter is difficult, the bravery of the subjects and filmmakers involved, along with the unexpected twists and turns, make for an enthralling experience.

Why do you think the filmmakers included both Christine's personal story and the victims' stories? Talk about how combining different perspectives helps viewers understand both the danger of the situation and the bravery involved in exposing it.
Why was Julia's decision to cooperate with law enforcement so brave? Consider the fear she felt and what she risked by speaking up. Discuss how perseverance sometimes requires trusting others even when it feels unsafe.
