Ultimate Airport Dubai
Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
Narrated by Tom Goodman-Hill, ULTIMATE AIRPORT DUBAI is a docuseries that follows the day-to-day operations of one of the largest and busiest airports in the world. From following border control and customs officers like Hassan Ibrahim as they screen incoming passengers to watching air traffic control manager Phil Marques and his team keeping track of flights taking off and landing, it reveals some of the behind-the-scenes efforts of the many people who keep flights on time, ensure passengers' safety, and keep the different airport systems running smoothly. Meanwhile, folks get to watch as the staff and crew for Emirates, the country's airline, train, work, and make sure that their planes are safe, clean, and ready for every flight.
Is It Any Good?
The docuseries follows an array of different people responsible for maintaining the key operations of the Dubai airport to ensure that everything runs as smoothly and safely as possible. It also features some of their interactions with passengers, which range from pleasant exchanges with customers who need assistance to handling inebriated individuals who become sick or belligerent. Folks unfamiliar with traveling to and from Islamic states may also find the talks about banned materials interesting, since some of UAE's rules are very different from those of most Western countries. Like most unscripted shows of this kind, all of this is presented as a collection of high-stakes, linear narratives that create a sense of urgency in order to make it more entertaining. If you're not drawn to aviation transportation, you won't find it very exciting. But Ultimate Airport Dubai won't disappoint folks who like this sort of thing.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about airports. Are you surprised about the amount of people it takes to run one? Or by the number different airport systems they have to maintain and manage?
What is the purpose behind unscripted docuseries like Ultimate Airport Dubai? Are they produced to be as promotional as they are informative? What devices do producers use to make them entertaining?
