A kids show we can all enjoy!

My 10 year old and I have been thoroughly enjoying Ultra Violet & Black Scorpion! It's really funny (he laughs out loud A LOT when we watch), and it's so refreshing to see a kids show that doesn't operate on the old tired trope of siblings disliking and undermining each other. We appreciate that Violet's struggles are internal - she may feel like she'll be rejected if she doesn't conform, but in reality, her peers aren't actually rejecting her. She's just working to figure out who she is, what she values, how to prioritize expectations of self, family, community - all very relatable stuff. We also love that it's a show about a Latinx family with Spanish casually sprinkled into conversations with no fanfare. It feels comfortable and authentic. So many children's sit-coms rely on archetype characters that are superficial, obnoxious and insulting. Ultra Violet & Black Scorpion is such a welcome shift - even my older teens like it :)
