What's the Story?
In UNDERDOGS, funny man Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) has sought out the unsung creeps and outliers of nature, bringing their nutty antics to the small screen. Bystanders get peed on from above while reading a newspaper, while odd-looking creatures let their freak flags fly with glee in the natural world. Will you be inspired to view nature in a different way after watching this oddball take on a nature documentary?
Is It Any Good?
Reynolds brings his ironic touch to the nature docuseries, which may just up the game for documentarians forever. There's lots and lots of potty humor in Underdogs, which will tickle elementary school-age kids to no end. Can the visuals of poop windshield-wiping from a rhino's butt be unseen? No, they can't.
But families who are fans of Reynold's lovable growl will enjoy this show-and-tell of the weird antics of nature's outsiders. Humans who feel they don't fit in with society's lions will find a home here.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about curiosity in Underdogs. Does learning about funny behavior from animals make you want to learn about more animals like them? What gets you motivated to learn more?
Some of the animals in this show need to work very hard to get their needs met. What would happen if they gave up? How does having perseverance help to get your needs met?
In nature, animals sometimes need to fight for their territory and defend their young. Do you think they require courage in order to survive? Or is it instinct?
