What's the Story?
The Spanish unscripted series UNIVERXO DABIZ follows David Muñoz Rosillo, aka Chef Dabiz Muñoz, as he figures out whether he wants to keep his top restaurant open. Muñoz has ranked first in the Best Chef Awards for three consecutive years and earned three Michelin stars at DiverXO, a restaurant specializing in avant-garde cuisine that was named the third best restaurant in the world in 2023. But now the chef is thinking about how he can continue to be inspired by food and cooking, and whether all the professional success he enjoys aligns with what brings him personal happiness. In addition to spending time talking about what he wants to do with his wife, Christina Pedroche; his parents; and professional colleagues like Chef René Redzepi and Chef Gastón Acurio, he travels to Japan, Mexico, and the United Arab Emirates to explore different cuisines and find some inspiration and answers.
Is It Any Good?
The Spanish docuseries follows 52-year-old chef Dabiz Muñoz's two-year journey of professional and personal discovery, during which time he reflects on his life and thinks about his future. UniverXO Dabiz viewers get to witness his passion for culinary arts as he visits different establishments, tries unique ingredients, and eats uniquely prepared dishes. They also get to watch him spend hectic days running his own restaurant. Throughout it all, Muñoz, who describes himself as a perfectionist when it comes to his career, questions whether the work he's put into the profession and the personal time he's sacrificed over the years was worthwhile. He also wonders if he's ready to make serious lifestyle changes as his family grows. Not everyone will find the Spanish chef's midlife crisis entertaining, but if you're a foodie or you enjoy the culinary arts, chances are that UniverXO Dabiz will be appetizing.
