Is It Any Good?

Our review:

Fans of Junji Ito will appreciate this compelling adaptation, while new viewers may enjoy the introduction to Ito's cruel, creepy cosmos. Uzumaki instantly grabs your attention by getting straight to the action. Its effective pacing throws you straight into the chaos but lets you simmer long enough for the suspense to ebb and flow. For a horror story that leans heavily on visual imagery, it still does a good job making characters' emotional crises just as distressing as the distorted bodies.

There's a lot to unpack in the overall story, but that's the beauty of Ito's horror. If you just want to be scared, you'll feel the thrills and chills of supernatural self-destruction. If you want to dig a little deeper, there's a big well of cultural, philosophical, and existential topics to discuss.
