Parent reviews for Virgin River

I'm sorry buy whoever says this is for 12 or 13 y/olds, are just kidding themselves. What message do you want to pass on to such young kids? There's a lot of kissing and in"off screen" sex as well, so I would think this would be more suitable for 16+ to be honest.

This is a nice show but it could have been much better if the gender roles were not as stereotypical. What I mean is that women are mostly depicted as sweet and needing to be protected, whereas men are often shown being impulsive and displaying toxic masculinity (prone to anger, showing feelings seen as a sign of weakness, all men are stereotypicaly masculine). There is also a lack of diverse representation (LGBT, ethnicities ...).

A great show to watch with teens! There is some talk of sex and birth control in a couple of episodes in season 2. There are also 2 short sex scenes but no nudity shown, only the characters’ faces. Death, miscarriages and drugs are spoken about but nothing graphic on screen. I think it’s fine for age 12+ It’s a fun family drama and there’s no bad language which is rare these days!
