What's the Story?

In WEATHER HUNTERS, a science-loving family (named Hunter) flies around the world in their magical weather van, exploring weather phenomena big and small. The family is helmed by meteorologist dad Al (Al Roker). The rest of the Hunters include mom Dot (Holly Robinson Peete), big sister Corky (Kapri Ladd), middle sister Lily (Tandi Fomukong), little brother Benny (Lorenzo Ross), and dog Cumulus. Great-Grandpa Wallace (LeVar Burton) guides the Hunters, in the form of video clues he made for the family before he died. Lily does weather experiments, Benny is the lovable comic relief, and Corky documents their adventures with her camera. They do experiments to learn what plants need to grow, if a thunderstorm is close or far away, and why weather makes animals act so strangely. The Hunters love each other even more than they love weather; as they say at the end of each episode: "Whatever the weather, we're in it together!"

Our review:

Kids say ( 1 ):

This charming science show for preschoolers and their families has lovable, relatable characters, exciting adventures, and learning to spare. In Weather Hunters, Al Roker shines as a warm patriarch full of dad jokes who guides his kids to learn lessons for themselves. Weather is a great entry point to STEM learning, and will introduce little kids to concepts like measurement, technology, and the scientific method, as well as weather-specific fun facts. The pacing may feel a bit slow for adult tastes, but it helps the littlest kids absorb the educational concepts. Weather Hunters is a sunny new addition to the PBS Kids lineup that grown-ups can feel great about their kids watching.
