Entertaining and educational, Mundo Salvaje is a wildlife documentary series filled with surprising images and facts. It features original panoramic footage of unique landscapes on the planet, such as the world's largest flooded jungle in the Amazon, or the Hoyo del Aire in Colombia, a 165-meter-deep natural hole formed during the Pleistocene. The camera clearly captures details such as the blinking of an alligator, the movement of an anaconda's tongue, or monkeys sucking their fingers. The crew's expertise and preparation for filming exotic animals is demonstrated in the behind-the-scenes chapter. This episode creates empathy for the challenges the explorers face, from overcoming the fear of being in a vulnerable tent to film a jaguar at close range, climbing into the treetops to capture a harpy eagle, preparing to dive into the waters of a lake nearly 4,000 meters above sea level, or eating a boiled cow's head offered by the locals as a feast. The series manages to tell curious stories about the species - how they survive, defend themselves, seduce or fight for mates - that move us and help us understand a little better the complexity of the animal world.
