What's the Story?

In WINX CLUB: THE MAGIC IS BACK, 16-year-old Bloom finds out that she has fairy powers. She tells her parents she's going away to boarding school, but really she leaves Earth and enters the Alfea School for Fairies in the fairy realm. At Alfea, Bloom (Kate Bristol) quickly makes friends with fellow fairies Flora (Sònia Victoria Werner), Stella (Courtney Shaw), Aisha (Zuri Washington), Musa (Jenny Chan), and Tecna (Sarah Faye Beard). Just as quickly, she makes enemies with witch sisters Icy, Stormy, and Darcy. Bloom has to learn how to use her fairy powers, navigate the Trix sisters, and fight the other evil foes in the Magical Dimension.

Is It Any Good?

Our review:

Kids say ( 2 ):

There have been many incarnations of the Winx Club and its characters, and it's not quite clear if "the magic is back" in this version, as the title claims. The stories in Winx Club: The Magic Is Back seem recycled from previous versions and are fairly lackluster. Winx's fantasy world, bright colors, and high-energy music are fun, but there's not much substance under the style. While there's nothing iffy per se, it can definitely be skipped in favor of something with more heart under the surface.

  • How do the Winx fairies support one another? What makes them good friends?
