What's the Story?

The story begins with a sudden hit-and-run that kills off a police officer named Mark. Blum, Mark's wife, works as a mortician and lives with their two children and her father-in-law. As the show progresses, we learn that the hit-and-run was intentional and that Blum's husband was involved in a tangled storyline of human trafficking and aggressive land owners. There are many further twists and turns as the storyline progresses.

If you're a fan of crime shows, there are plenty of others to watch before you land here. Woman of the Dead's plot starts out with a hit-and-run that needs solving, but then dives into gratuitous sexual violence, uncomfortable morgue scenes, images of bloody bondage with masked characters who seem to have no other purpose beyond looking menacing, and countless murders that happen in such flamboyant ways that the small Austrian town in which this show is set should be utterly devastated. The storyline is like when a child tells you their dream and repeats "and then, and then ... " to introduce new characters and storylines. The Austrian landscape is beautiful, but that's one of the few redeeming qualities of this series.
