World's Most Notorious Killers
Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
WORLD'S MOST NOTORIOUS KILLERS is a true crime docuseries about infamous murderers from around the world. Each of the five episodes focuses on a specific serial killing case and the person (or people) responsible for the deaths. Interviews with investigators, journalists, authors, and others close to each case offer details about the killers, the murders they committed, and how they were eventually caught. Combinations of dramatic reenactments and archive media footage highlight key events. From Johann "Jack" Unterweger, a transatlantic serial killer otherwise known as the Vienna Strangler, to French national Charles Sobraj's murder spree along the "Hippie Trail" in Southeast Asia, it reveals how heinous their crimes were, and the efforts that went into finding and convicting them.
Is It Any Good?
The detailed, sometimes dry docuseries features some of the most ill-famed true crime stories that took place in Europe, Asia, Australia, and the United States between the late 1960s through the 1990s. Most of the murderers profiled are serial killers, and like most true crime series it's intended to sensationalize their crimes for the sake of entertainment. Meanwhile, viewers may already be familiar with some of these narratives because they have been featured on other TV series and movies over the years. As a result, World's Most Notorious Killers tries its best to tell each story in ways that make some of the details seem fresh and non-repetitive. This includes conversations about the incompetence of police investigators in various cities. Devoted true crime fans will probably find it worth tuning in.
