4 Elements HD (Full)

Not a bad match-3, but you can find free ones just as good.

What parents need to know

Ease of play

This is a fairly basic match-three puzzle game. That is, players find chains of three or more matching-colored tiles on game boards that are filled with tiles. The goal is to find as many chains as possible. This tried-and-true puzzle game concept has worked for years because of its accessibility, ease of play, and the "simple to understand but difficult to master" mentality.

Privacy & safety

Minor privacy concerns. Players can opt in to Apple’s Game Center to track scores and achievements, and for some games, challenge friends. With Game Center, players can send and receive friend requests using an email address or Game Center nickname, revealing the first and last name associated with each party’s Apple ID and, in the case of email requests, the sender’s email address.

Parents Need to Know

Parents need to know that 4 Elements HD (Full) is a rudimentary puzzle game in which players rearrange a game board filled with colored tiles to create the longest strings of matching-colored tiles possible. In between the puzzle-solving levels, players can read stories about a world filled with fantastical creatures. The entire aesthetic of the game is centered around this fantasy theme and adds cohesion to what would otherwise be an assorted jumble of puzzles. The storyline contains no violence whatsoever, nor is there any other content of concern. It is instead focused on the adventures of trolls, dwarfs, and other associated mythical beings. Users can share high scores via the Game Center social network, but participation is optional

QUALITY

No one who buys 4 ELEMENTS HD (FULL) should expect a blockbuster experience, since it's a very casual game meant for short bursts of time-killing. The levels will no doubt start to get repetitive for any player who spends more than an hour in a single sitting. It's an easy, comfortable puzzle game that delivers the kind of experience this type of game should. However, there are many games like this that cost less than this one ($5 at the time of this review), and others that are even free. There is a background story to follow, but it is nothing particularly worthwhile or memorable. Though not poor or disappointing in its presentation, you'll want to wait for a good sale to buy 4 Elements HD.

Engaging for All

I found this for free because *I* (adult mama!) wanted to find something to play (I don't EVER play games- well, I'll play board games...). The WHOLE family is loving it! Me, my husband, & our two boys ages 7 &10. I'm 'cool' for just a second ;)
