What parents need to know

Parents need to know that Adventure Time Puzzle Quest - Match 3 RPG Game follows the same format as the Puzzle Quest games from the same developer but with the characters from Adventure Time. Players earn coins and magic dust that can be used for power-ups, upgrades, and new characters, and packages can be purchased in-app. As players match three objects in the puzzle game, they power the characters in battles to the death against mice, worms, and other characters.

What's it about?

In ADVENTURE TIME PUZZLE QUEST - MATCH 3 RPG GAME, start by accepting a quest and then travel along the map, choosing the battles and fighting by matching three objects, avoiding traps, and finding bonus spots to move the characters in their fight. As the Adventure Time characters lose power, switch fighters so their lives last longer. Kids can craft special potions to help their characters, use coins to buy power-ups, and redeem wishes to improve stats. Real money also will buy more power via in-app purchases. Kids can play in a tournament mode to earn more rewards.

Is it any good?

With favorite quirky characters, a totally addictive match-3 game, and a magic-filled quest, there’s something fun for most everyone. Kids can connect with a forum for help, tips, and discussions to enhance the game. Another neat feature is the option to play in a battery-save mode. As for the game, the match-3 is classically fun and the quest is motivating, but it is tricky to pay attention to both at once, managing the battle while making matches. Also, every single time kids open the game, they'll have to wait for the data to load, and though that goes quickly, it's rather inconvenient. The biggest issue is with crashes, especially when redeeming wishes. With fewer bugs, delays, and potential purchases, this would be a slam dunk, especially for fans.

Talk to your kids about ...

  • Families can talk about the violence involved in the adventure quest part of the game and how it's different from the fighting in the show.

  • Ask kids if they feel removed from the violence when they're playing the match-3 game or if they realize how they're controlling it.

  • Set expectations for in-app purchases before downloading.
