Aralon: Sword and Shadow HD

Ambitious adventure RPG is captivating, challenging.

What parents need to know

Ease of play

Players with no experience in games that feature real-time hand-to-hand battles may have a difficult time progressing through this title. It does not take an expert gamer to successfully survive through the battles, but it is unrelenting and offers no consolation to those who may be a bit less experienced. Aside from the battles, many of the exploration and puzzle-solving quests are self-explanatory and require either trial-and-error or endurance, rather than hardcore gaming skills. The result is a game that is challenging but not overwhelming.

At times, players will have to face off against throngs of enemy troops in sword fighting and hand-to-hand combat. Violence is an integral part of the game. However, there are numerous hours of gameplay in which players are navigating lush environments and solving puzzles, with no violent activity.

Parents Need to Know

Parents need to know that in Aralon: Sword and Shadow HD, players select a character class (Human, Elf, or Troll) and then engage on a prolonged journey through forests, caves, and dungeons to discover all the land's mysteries. Players have to equip their character with the strongest swords and weapons possible in order to most effectively take down enemy forces that come in the way. While the fighting can become frenetic and intense, it is only one component of this ambitious and large-scale adventure.

Is it any good?

ARALON: SWORD AND SHADOW HD shines as one of the best-looking and most engaging mobile games. The story is full of intrigue and keeps players encouraged to keep playing as they unearth mystery after mystery. Players have flexibility in how they want the game to unfold -- they can complete side quests and unearth every hidden item throughout the kingdom, or they can run through the main adventure and complete the story quickly and efficiently. Either way, it is a game that is sure to captivate players with its stunning graphics and intuitive control interface. Once the game is complete, there is little motivation to play again, but it will take most players a good 30 hours before that happens -- well worth the price of this impressive mobile game.

The best open world app out there!

The only reason I rated it 8 and up is because it can be too hard at sometimes if you do not know what you are doing. You can fight with lots of different weapons/skills. The weapons range from small swords to great swords. You can wield several different axes and staffs as well. If you don't won't you children to play games with magic, this will not be for them. It has loads of it in this app.Huge amount of replay value.
