What's It About?

When opening BEESY - TAKE MEETING NOTES WITH AUTOMATED TO-DO LIST AND TASK / PROJECT MANAGEMENT, users are prompted to create an account, which will then help them share notes and tasks with peers. An on-screen tutorial appears after kids create an account with example notes and projects preloaded. Kids can create a project by selecting the Project icon at the bottom of the dashboard, which displays a calendar with active due dates, organized by urgency and deadline. Once the project tab is open, users can add tasks, deadlines, comments, drawings, hyperlinks to websites, directions to a location, meeting information, and a question, thought, audio note, or photograph. When using the Notes feature, students can include the same features and can then attach them to specific projects, or they can upload content created using the Livescribe 3 pen. When connected to other users, kids can see tasks that their peers or group members are completing toward a finished project, or they can share tasks that they may have run out of time to complete. A Web-based support guide is available in addition to a tutorial, video library, FAQ, and user forum.

A thorough project-management tool that offers a wide variety of input options, this app provides an opportunity for all learners, especially those with diverse learning needs, but may be overwhelming to others. The interface is busy and includes lots of text, which may be off-putting for kids with visual-processing delays or language-processing disorders. The tool automatically organizes tasks based on due dates and priorities and lists them cleanly on the dashboard, which may be useful for kids who need specific help putting tasks in order to complete a larger project. Also, kids can use the online help available through the settings tab to get more acquainted with the program.

Talk to Your Kids About ...

  • Families can talk about time-management skills with kids. Discuss how to take a large project and create smaller due dates for parts of it to keep kids on track for completion.

  • Practice using tools such as the app by breaking down chores or home projects and sharing tasks with different family members. For instance, if a party needs to be planned, one family member can be in charge of preparing food, while another might be in charge of getting decorations. Being as specific as possible might help kids pay attention to detail when breaking down their own projects into smaller tasks.
